Rear exit exhaust - painting/clean up options?

My newly acquired cars rear exit exhaust is pretty gritty looking despite being only 2 years old and a couple of thousand miles. Pretty poor really.

Wondered what people had done with theirs - I like the black look and don't want to replace it.

I use trim restorer/tyre shine on mine, applied with foam, turns it back to black and seems to last a while
