Club member mate who has a 310 has had the even lighter PP flywheel and a new clutch fitted.
This is what he told me:

"The ultralight flywheel and clutch is £1375.50 + vat fitted.  If you require a replacement clutch slave cylinder then this is either £104.31 + vat for the earlier cars or £140.00 + vat for the later cars."

"The Premier Power Ultra Lightweight Flywheel & Clutch is an entry level upgrade that gives a very noticeable driveability improvement.  It will give the driver a heavier clutch pedal but an increase in throttle response and the improvement in engine braking is very noticeable.  For those interested in improving the performance of their Sigma but that don’t initially want the expense of an engine upgrade, this is the perfect product for you.  It makes driving the car a completely different driving experience.  With the engine being far more responsive, it’s a lot easier to flick through the gears, increasing the sports car feel.  The sprung loaded centre plate also helps to protect the gearbox.
This product can either be fitted to a standard Caterham Sigma engine or a Premier Power modified engine.  Once purchased this clutch is suitable for any of the Premier Power engine upgrades and does not require uprating for any of our upgrades.  A new master cylinder is supplied as part of the kit.  However we do recommend while the engine is out to replace the slave cylinder and release bearing.  Should the old unit fail, there would be an additional labour charge to remove and re-fit a new one "

He had that done plus a cat bypass and is very pleased with it all.

I had a 310r and started with the ultralight flywheel and clutch. I then had the cat in the can exhaust fitted followed by the F160 cams and remap. I was then contemplating adding throttle bodies to take it to F175 but decided that life's too short so opted for the F190.
In addition to Silverstone, at Motorsport Days Live, I also took it around Bedford Autodrome yesterday to test the new windage tray that Stuart had fitted. Needless to say it worked a treat with hardly any oil in the catch tank.

Compared to the 310r I started with the car is now transformed, it pulls and pulls, I can't believe it's my car and the only thing holding it back is me!

You know you want to do it so just find a way to make it work. It's worth every penny and the after sales service is second to none.

The F160 was much sweeter running with more low down torque than the 310. My 310 had 148bhp when I got it and the F160 had 163bhp, although I never experienced that on the road as I had it limited to 155bhp for the speed championship.

My car started as a 270 and Caterham carried out the 310 upgrade, but kept the standard Ford flywheel, before I bought it so the ultralight flywheel made a huge difference.

I think the ideal starting point is a 270 as Stuart's F160 gives so much more than a 310 and you save money by not having paid more for a 310 in the first place. His cams have more lift than the Caterham 310 cams and he sets the valve clearances correctly.

This is my car converted to F160 before it was restricted.

Uhoh. This is getting dangerous financially.

so I've been quoted £3200 inc vat and labour for the OEM 310 conversion including the CC light weight flywheel and a decat pipe.

F160 plus the ultralight flywheel is the same again including the vat. Worth it? Quick, while the bank manager has his back turned....

It depends what you're after. If you think you'll be happy with 148bhp and the heavier Caterham lightweight flywheel then go for it. However, if you opt for the F160 with the ultralight flywheel you'll not only have over 160bhp and a super responsive engine you'll also have an upgrade path in future should the bank manager turn their back again!
It's also worth mentioning that Caterham don't fit upgraded valve springs with their 310 cams.
In answer to your question 'is it worth it?', YES definitely but you knew I'd say that!

For those who have had PP's lighterweight flywheel and clutch, would you say it was worth it? And qualifying that, in what way was it worth it? If you had it done to a 6 speed box I'd be interested in hearing if the heavier clutch becomes a bind with changing gear so much as one does with the 6spd *smile* Thanks folks!

I had PP's UL flywheel and clutch done on fixed cam sigma 125. Genuinely transformed the car. Very responsive throttle and I actually prefer the heavier clutch. I have a 5 speed, but had similar concerns about it being too heavy for around town etc, but after a couple of blats it's normal for me. Others I've driven now feel too weak! Saving pennies for engine work from Stuart...

To add more specifics on perceived benefits for me, down shifts are easier to rev match as blipping the throttle gains more revs quicker. Engine breaking is enhanced which I enjoy. The engine feels more lively and responsive. Sharper. I don't regret it and would certainly recommend.

So update,

Everyone I have spoken with about this is very please with the work Stuart has done,

I have gone for the F160 package, ultralight flywheel and clutch, wrapped primary pipes, decat pipe, dual oil temperature and pressure gauge.

While the cars with them it makes sense to also replace the following

Clutch slave cylinder, water pump and tensioner , oil and filter.

So I will be selling my Caterham lightweight flywheel, 310 cams, Air box with K & N filter, etc etc when my cars done in early May ready for the Taffia run.

Similar time line to mine! Stuart is a busy man - a good sign! I've also ordered the F160, flywheel, clutch, header wraps, decat etc. I also added on the dual oil temp and pressure gauge. Hopefully also back in time for the fish & chip run!

I knew this would be an expensive thread!

I don't have any 310 bits to sell, but a kidney and both children will be on eBay soon. Will post a link *whistle*

if anyone has a tips on how to break this sort of thing to the better half, they'd be welcome! *hehe*
