New mobile phone holder

Recommended Posts

Hello folks,

I'm sure we all have countless solutions for mounting a mobile phone in our Sevens, but I thought I'd share my latest.

I've been a fan of Peak Design stuff for a few years (everything is so well thought out — their bags are amazing) and they've recently made a whole range of mobile things. It starts with a case, that has magnets in — and you can probably guess where it goes from there. All their holders use strong magnets, and they've done a car dash mount that features inbuilt charging. Very handy for recent iPhones.

Here's how it looks in mine…

Neh, I think you're on to something there Nigel. I've had cards — especially hotel keys — get fritzed by magnets. I don't think the PD case has the magnets though, I think they're all in the holders. I think.

I don’t mean to hijack this thread, but here is another alternative for mounting a phone. It’s not my discovery, it was originally posted on usa7s.net by “KnifeySpoony” from the San Francisco Bay Area. Here is the link:

Since Caterham chassis are meant for either LH or RH drive there are steering column mounts on both sides. On LH drive the fuse box cover needs to be slightly trimmed to allow the small clamp to grip. For my car, the parts needed were:

RAM Mounts Double Socket Arm RAM-B-201U-A Short Arm Compatible with RAM B Size 1" Ball Components

Tough-Claw Small Clamp Base with 1'' Ball for All Industry Standard 1 inch / 25mm / B Size Socket Arm, Compatible with RAM, Arkon, iBolt and More (1''

RAM MOUNTS X-Grip Phone Holder with Ball

There are a lot of clamps and mounts from Manfrotto that are used for mounting cameras in all sorts of unusual ways that i am sure will be able to solve this quite well.  They also do phone clamps that are obviously also compatible.
