Paul D
I've been debating for a while what to do about my cyclewings touching my indicators at full lock. As I have LED headlights with indicator function as well as wing repeaters, can any one confirm whether these will likely still pass an MOT if the original front indicator pods are completely removed? Member Jonathan Kay Posted October 2, 2022 Member Share Posted October 2, 2022 The relevant section of the MoT inspection manual. Are the indicator lamps amber? Do the position lamps (side lamps) stay on?(I can't spot a non-compliance from what you've told us.)Jonathan

Paul D
https://www.instagram.com/tv/Cd1d7P1KUUp/?igshid=YmMyMTA2M2Y=. Another members vid, mine are the same but halo ring rather than horizontal bar. MOT stations generally ok with these if I remove the original indicators and just leave the headlights and wing repeaters?
SM25T
This is the relevant part ...The side repeater can be part of the front direction indicator if it has one of the following:a wraparound lens marked either with an ‘E’ mark in a circle or an ‘e’ mark in a rectangle with a number 5 above itan amber light coming through the front lens when viewed from 1m to the side of the rear bumper
SM25T
I know you don't have a rear bumper, but .....
SM25T
Ahh, sorry, misread your post. You are keeping the wing repeaters. I see no problem with what you suggest
Paul D
Yeah, keeping wing repeaters, it's just the simplest solution to me destroying my cycle wings when I forget and go to full lock as I bump up the dropkerb onto my drive!
Leadership Team SLR No.77 Posted October 2, 2022 Leadership Team Share Posted October 2, 2022 I'd be wary of just using the halo ring as the indicator, there's all sorts of electronic trickery on modern cars where certain light go out when indicators are used, you can't be sure that with the headlights on the indicator will be clearly visible. Why not just add a couple of 'stops' to the steering rack to limit the turning angle? This was done on the last model classic Minis fitted with the ridiculously big 13" wheels, I'm sure there's plenty of other examples.
7 wonders of the world
The indicators on mine take priority and over ride the DRL's when in operation since they share the same Halo location, and are clearly visible with headlights on too. There are plenty of tintops with shocking separation between lights some fronts but predominantly rears - many in the VAG group.https://furoreproducts.co.uk/led-headlights
Paul D
#10Likewise, mine switch from the DRL white halo to the amber flash. Haven't yet assessed how visible they are with the headlights on as only fitted them this summer.I'm agnostic about how visible my indicators to some extent (as I know they are more visible than many current cars as you allude to). I just don't want an MOT fail at the start of next year and have to reinstate the indicators, or have an insurance company suggest my illegal indicator setup might be contributory if I have a crash. Might go and have a conversation with my tame MOT tester down the road as it'll be his say so on the MOT in the spring. Thanks for the thoughts so far.
