Not sure what would have been used but common to fit the larger 3/4" GWC1208 used on the Spitfire and elsewhere. The Italian made cylinders sold by some of the Triumph specialists seem reasonable quality.
Marinas/Itals used 5/8", 11/16" and 3/4" over time for the various engines and bodies so guess it depends on who built the axle and what they chose. Caterham supply in the early 90's was 11/16" which was the standard fit for almost all Itals (diesels and 575 vans were 5/8" I think).
Did they differ from standard? I think on my '96 Scholarship car (i.e. Ital rear axle) they are off the van version of the Marina/Ital.
