Fuel gauge accuracy?

I'm a new 360S SV owner embarking on my first longish trip to Castle Combe on Saturday. Can anyone advise on the accuracy of the fuel gauge, in my last car (Morgan) it was a random number generator and I had to keep a close eye on the odometer.

Welcome.

1 You're right to be concerned.

2 Gauge Magic: Andrew Revill's recalibrator +++. (You'll need the Mk II.)

Ours on a 2002 Rover engined SV works well. I can run it down to the R position and into the red and it keeps going !

#4 Mine does that. On the red, drive for miles and till only get 26/7 litres in an SV.

They might as well just fit a dipstick.

Most of the error on my 310 was corrected by bending the sender float arm. I believe this is needed because the fuel pump is sat in a well in the Ford application. Certainly my float was raised above the bottom of the tank when empty. John Vine has a thread somewhere that describes this well and how to rectify.

John Vine's Guide: "Recalibrating the fuel gauge on on pre-2015 Duratecs".

This is before Andrew's analysis of the electronics.

#8 you'd think after all these years whoever fits the pumps in the tanks at the factory would have twigged that one!
