Easy Corner Weighting On The Cheap

So I just received the 4 cheap postal scales I ordered with some Amazon Christmas gift cards.

They look to be ideal for the job, although they come with 9V batteries, but also arrive with USB power cables. I had an old 4-port USB hub and an old iPhone power brick hanging around, so connected them all up:

I checked the accuracy with my weight (75kg) and just under 25kg of weights and a socket set. In both cases the scales all agreed within 0.2kg, which I think is pretty decent for the type of scale used. With the USB power I've had them on for 2 hours without the display switching off or the weight resetting (they will auto power off with the 9V battery installed, but I didn't bother installing the batteries). Although the display "holds" after a few seconds so that the display stays at the same number, it only takes a slight prod with the tip of a finger for it to start measuring again if the weight has changed by a small amount.

The control units have an umbilical cord that looks long enough to stretch to a central point on one side of the car when all units are under their respective tyres, I will probably mount then on a piece of plywood to keep them together for easy reading.

I won't get a chance to redo the Caterham corner weighting until April or so, but so far I'm very impressed with the setup for the price of CAD$43 per unit (£25). Here is the model spec info:

I was looking at those - I found the 3335 version (on Amazon and elsewhere under several brand names) which seems a very similar scale with the same functionality and £20 cheaper. I was going to buy one to see what they are like but haven't got round to it and at the end of the day may just stick with an old school cornerweight guage.
