GLOOPY
Good EveningI'm refitting the boot cover to a 2019 420R and am unsure whether the aluminium strip in the cover should be removed for cars with six point harnesses and a FIA/trackday rollbar.Could anyone advise from their own experience please? Many thanksDavid
7 wonders of the world
Still needed to keep the shape and tension on the boot cover, otherwise it wrinkles and looks like Nora Baty's stockings....
Area Representative Geoff Brown Posted May 31, 2023 Area Representative Share Posted May 31, 2023 I just drilled straight through. Yes retain as the cover will wrinkle when tightening down straps & edge will not retain shape.
John Vine
As I recall during my 2008 build, I removed the strip prior to fitting 4-point harnesses. I didn't have any problem with Batty-style wrinkles.Just in case my memory was playing tricks, I checked my Assembly Guide, which states "If harness type seat belts are being fitted the metal insert in the boot cover must be removed."JV
GLOOPY
Thanks to everyone for their responses. I didn't want to run the risk of any resemblance to the lovely Nora so retained the strip. My query was prompted by the 2015 build manual, there's no mention that I can see of the boot cover at all in the latest manual.David
Ivaan
My old K series had a neat arrangement for the boot cover. It had a square U channel sitting on its side along the front edge of the boot. There were slots/ openings cut in the channel for the belts, and the boot cover was fixed to the top of the channel. Kept it all tight and added about 20mm to the boot height at the front.
