Can you buy a crate 420r spec engine from caterham - nothing listed on site.

if not what's a good replacement engine?

look forward to hearing different views on this.

I take it that yours is broken? The only parts changed internally from the standard duratec are the cams, valve springs, dependent on year the rod bolts and the oil pump if dry sumped. The rest is just external dress parts.

I read some where that all Duratech engines fitted to Caterhams have a lighter flywheel fitted is that correct.  I assume the race type   Caterhams have a much lighter version though.  Does anyone know the actual weights of flywheels fitted for comparison?

All Duratec flywheels are the same, apart from 620 variants and cars fitted with Sadev  gearboxes. TTV ones are now used in place of Titan flywheels

Thank you for that info, I seem to recall reading that they weigh 3.9 kg is that the standard across the range weight then, apart from the 620 and Sadev ones you mentioned.

Drakman, yes only 620 and other Sadev cars use a different flywheel.
