Carbon\ABS - Half Doors - for sale

Recommended Posts

Is anyone looking for a set of half doors, these are the carbon effect ones made out of ABS plastic by Steve at YC Plastics, which is much safer than real carbon should you have an accident IMO. I need four additional orders for these to go into production. The price are £100 per pair + £15 shipping within the UK. Please could you email Steve directly steve@ycplastics.co.uk

Email received from Steve regarding SV and fitting.....see below. Hope it helps!

These were originally made for the S3 Chassis

I don`t know if they would fit?

As far as i have been told the Series 5 is just wider so technically they should fit but i cannot be 100% sure

If you are happy on that basis yes I can supply these

There is prework required the one Brett put in the picture has been trimmed back further and shaped with a hot air gun

There are many ways to fit them I have seen people use pop studs lining them up with the original fixings. Also screwed on and even people have developed hinges for them

On race cars they tend to use cable ties or industrial velcro

@ bluenose, could you please email Steve to place your order at steve@ycplastics.co.uk

@ dave@starcraft & Neil Bolton, I've asked if he does a SV version, I'll update once I hear back.

@ Bucko, could you please email Steve to place your order at steve@ycplastics.co.uk

@ Neil Bolton, yes they'll need some fettling to fit, especially if you wish for it fit inside the scuttle at the front. This requires you to heat the plastic and curve the front profile as these are straight when made.

Brett, thanks for the info, so, S3 = 430mm SV = 500mm that would explain the fact that my carbon cills fitted by the previous owner have always looked too small (they are obviously S3).

If SV versions were to be manufactured, i would place an order, but for the moment count me out

thank you

So i have emailed Steve regarding his half doors for an SV.

His reply is as follows -

"Unfortunately because the SV is not just wider, its longer i dont think the current ones fit."

In reply i have asked him if there are any plans on making an SV version, or to put it another way, what would make that viable?

I am yet to receive a reply and will update if and when i do   I suspect it may not be viable for them to produce SV doors, but lets wait and see.

Dan R said or to put it another way, what would make that viable?

indeed, that's the appropriate question, how many pre-orders (and expectation of future business) would justify the time/effort of developing the moulds.
