I'll be sure to do a full write up with pictures of the adventure across the continent! Flight to Gatwick is booked, and Eurotunnel back to France the same day also booked!
Were you by chance driving into Canterbury today at about 12:10 down the New Dover Road. I saw a grey 7 with an orange stripe - WITH THE ROOF UP on a very nice sunny day. In 37 years of 7 ownership, I can probably count the number of times my roof has been up on two hands.
If you are East Kent based, we are meeting at The Ringlestone Inn (ME17 1NX) on Thursday the 14th July.
Hey Pete, welcome to Caterham and this brilliant forum. I'm new to the car too, having bought mine from GP Sevens just around four months ago.
I'm sure, like me, you'll find this forum will offer stuff that will go way beyond expectations. There is an enormous amount of knowledge and experience that is only too willing, and able, to help with any issue you have.
I'd encourage you to do a Blog on here just to document your time being a Caterham owner and certainly go to your local meets as you'll find Caterham owners in general are genuine petrolheads that really care about their cars and driving.
Most importantly, have fun....

I hadn't in real life Pete, only in sims (I'd probably done hundreds of laps in iRacing *rofl*) So it was interesting to drive it for real and to realise how good computer simulations are these days. It was amazingly good fun in the Cat, even if I found the limiter in 6th on a couple of stretches!
Hope the autobahn drives aren't too arduous on the way back to Munich. It'll be worth it for all the drives you're going to have from there. If you've never driven the Hahntennhjoch Pass in Austria I highly recommend contriving a drive over there sometime. Looks like it's only about 2.5hrs from Munich. Start from the west and head east, it's the more fun drive.
I remember being told that no matter how much you've driven the track in games, or watched video footage of it, in real life, the elevation changes of the Ring is what gets you. I knew this, and yet on my first visit what surprised me most? The elevation changes! I think we need to get a club trip to the Nürburgring planned...
Thanks for the road suggestions, i'll add it to my ticklist of alpine roads!
I wasn't that surprised by the elevation changes if I'm honest. It is more noticeable than a sim - but I think iRacing's LiDAR-scanned representation is so unbelievably accurate I was more pleasantly surprised by how well I knew the track On my third lap I still did an 8:20, which I was perfectly happy with.
I shall be returning next year for sure! I'll go with DNevents again, as it was a well run, closed track, day. I was one of only two Caterhams there too. They usually have a date in May, so once I know that's happening I'll post here on the forum and see if any others are interested in a ludicrous road trip there
Nice work! I'm booked on in October with Circuitdays, it'll be my first trackday rather than just TF laps.
I'll definitely be up for a group trip next year, and DN have a fantsatic reputation for high quality events, so count me in! More than happy to assist organising if needs be.
Thanks Toughie.

Fancy a club Nürburgring trip in 2023?
That would be fantastic, thanks. Have a safe and enjoyable trip!

Welcome! And what a cracking road trip home that will be
I took my R400 to the Nords for the first time this year. It was great fun, even if it's not the ideal car on the Nords.

MPH, i'll watch your video when I get home from work. Had you driven the 'Ring before?
Piers, i'm yet to collect my car, so on this occasion, not me! Worry not, i'll have the roof down the whole way to Munich, just for you!
Thanks for the very warm welcome Temple Cloud!
