Anyone else experiencing delays due to parts shortages at the factory ?
My (Factory built) car should have been ready now, but it's currently languishing in Dartford without an engine. Apparently they don't have any bellhousings for the Sigma engine..
Anyone with a car on order should note that it will be delayed by at least a couple of months from the original build date.
In May the factory produced just one car (not mine!) and the other forty or so are hanging around waiting for engine parts. June isn't looking much better. I imagine production has actually ground to a halt at Dartford.

Wow, are these issues limited to Sigma engined cars do you know?
Not sure, I was told it's bellhousings and ECUs so it may apply to both Sigma and Duratec cars.
Apparently they now have some Sigma bellhousings so my car will be finished next week. It started its build in late February, so that's a delay of around 6 weeks. Not too bad, but they still have a big back-log of cars to get through.

My 420R was completed on April 10th, with final payment made that same day and expectations the kit would be ready for pick up by the shippers later that week. However, it's been on hold ever since due to a missing coolant hose and grill.
I would ask them to deliver without those bits and send them on later. From what I have read on here they are not strangers to sending kits out with missing bits

They refused to ship without the parts because -- and I'm not making this up -- I would need to pay customs twice on those items (US bound kit). That seemed absurd given the cost of the car, so I offered to cover those additional fees to get the kit now. They wouldn't budge. It doesn't make sense to me, so I can only assume one or more of the following is true:
Given shipping issues, even if it were released today, it would likely take another couple of months to secure a container slot and cross both the Atlantic and the US.
Yeah that's not great.
For some context, my brother ordered a VW Caddy van in March 2021, 3 months before I ordered my car. It's still not been delivered and they don't know when it will be. Tricky times.

Tricky times indeed. I would have less angst if they hadn't requested and received final payment from me over 2 months ago when the car reached production complete status.
Nightmare for you which the shipping delays too.... push them hard as is in there interest to get the kit out of the door asap holding a long distance delivery up for those items is madness.
Can't the missing items be shipped to a US Dealer with their next order and then sent internal mail to you....?
Sadly CC have not got a good track record when it comes to sending kits out 'complete' !! they don't need any current market issues to hide behind.
7 wonders, my dealer (who BTW is great and is the primary reason I went with a Caterham over a Birkin), has already told the factory I am fine paying additional charges to have the missing parts shipped later, but they refused. Their logic makes no sense to either of us, leading me to believe the reason they initially provided for the delay is not the full story. If there is a valid reason for the delay they have not yet shared, that's fine. I'm reasonable. But given they already have all my money, I feel they should be more transparent and share those specifics with me. I will speak with my dealer again next week and ask him to push for clarity.
