Very much off thread, for anyone with green fing9

This weed has developed on my lawn.

It's really becoming a problem. It has a root up to 3 inches long, but also the roots run horizontally. Off the shelf weedkillers don't seem to affect it. In fact I had Greenthumb treating my lawn and they said they couldn't remove it.       Anyone got any ideas.

I don't do plants, but there's a brilliant identification app: PlantNet.

Thanks AC, that certainly looks like it, now to find how to get rid.

Unless you are trying to produce a bowling green what is the actual problem?  Why not just mow it with the rest of the lawn

My app says Garden Sorrel. "Garden sorrel is one of the most troublesome weeds in the world, affecting 45 different crops in 70 countries. Garden sorrel is highly reproductive, and it can spread and grow very rapidly. The best time to remove weeds is before their flowering and fructification, otherwise controlling them can be very difficult. After they have flowered and fructified, their seeds can spread very fast, and hence, the weeds should be removed more often and precautions should be taken in advance in the following year."

Plenty of info online about how to get rid of it.

Thanks for that. I'm not that precious about the lawn, but at the rate the sorrel is multiplying it's going to be all sorrel and no grass. Now I now what it is I might be able to treat it. In the meantime I'll manually remove the flowers/fruit as mowing the lawn would seem to spread them. I hoped the POBC would help and it has.
