so I go to the forum, what to me is the obvious way, by clicking blatchat then selecting chit chat, then I don't necesarily see sticky posts at the top, am I missing other stuff as well, I am trying to understand this new forum but obviously I am too thick,
If you go to the forum and select Chit Chat you will see ALL the posts in Chit Chat including stickies at the top.
If you select New and Updated you will ONLY see new posts and posts that have been updated since your last visit. These will be posts across all the forums i.e. Chit Chat, Tech Talk, Shining Wit, For Sale etc.
I know some people don't like it, but I find New and Updated extremely good. It's just different and once you understand it's very useful.

I thought 2020 was the year that was going to give me all I wanted. It turned out to be the year to make me appreciate what I've got.
Paul Hi, thanks, but that was the point I was making, I always did and do select Chit Chat without New and updated selected and that was when I noticed the forum guide sticky was either not there or not visible to me, it was only when I posted on that sticky that it re appeared ,
Every forum has a filter at the top with "Last updated" which defaults to 1 month. When you click on chitchat, if the sticky thread hasn't been updated in the last month, it won't be visible. Obviously I don't recommend setting the filter to "all time" as that will be a pretty heavy query and slow everything down.
It might not make sense to treat sticky threads like that but that is how it works at the moment. TBH if a thread hasn't been updated for a month then it probably shouldn't be a sticky. I will check whether we can exclude sticky threads from the filter.
My thoughts were that often stickles (sp) are for information not necessarily contribution, I noticed it was missing when someone commented that they were unsure how to post a pic, my first thought was well why don't they look at forum guide then noticed it was missing from my view, I guess for a new member it would not be unusual to spend a month or more getting a feel for the site and by that time the guide could well have disappeared just when they need it,
thought this was going to be a sticky

It is a sticky Tim, it's just the daft (IMO) way the "New and Updated" view works, as discussed here

Hi Tim
OK. I understand. Something appears to be wrong. Perhaps it isn't a sticky after all.

Thanks for that Shaun,
