The Classic Days (formerly at Schloss Dyck) 2022 will take place in Düsseldorf this time

We received the following e-mail from the organising team:
----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Dear clubs, dear friends of the Classic Day festival,

we hope you are well, everyone is healthy and can enjoy the festive season and look forward to contemplative days over Christmas and at the end of the year. Many of you have been our very loyal visitors, always buy tickets in advance in connection with the club areas at the "Classic Meeting", and have been very supportive and patient with us over the past two years. Many thanks again from our side.

A lot has happened around the Classic Days in the last few weeks - among other things, we have been in quite difficult negotiations with the Schloss Dyck Foundation to conclude a new three-year contract. This is always a prerequisite for being able to organise the Classic Days at the castle on the familiar scale as a voluntary organisation.

Unfortunately, the views in these negotiations were far apart. Further contract conditions were complex, among other things, some important areas at the castle are changing. Garden Monument Maintenance and the "Park Maintenance Work" - the long-term development of the grounds - mean 363 days a year of extending the Dyck Garden Monument and restrictions on the areas we need on the three days of the event. Also, the garden monument maintenance will no longer necessarily allow tents and event structures on the scale that we all know from the Classic Days, on areas that we regarded as "normal meadow areas". The Orangery is, among other things, a special area with great significance in the history of the castle. Since we have always set out to support the castle and the foundation, we certainly cannot look past these arguments and also the approaches to economic expectations. But we had to carefully assess and calculate what was feasible and what was calculable for a voluntary association (certainly with a now large event). The expectations were very high - not to say unrealistically inflated. However, each side may have seen this differently in the negotiations.

Parallel to the talks with the foundation, we have been in exchange with a new venue for some time. There was a need - if we want to preserve the Classic Days but cannot come to an agreement at the castle - to have an alternative in the planning that allows as many aspects as before (or even more).

Unfortunately, after 14 years, we will probably have to think in terms of these alternatives in order to continue the concept, weave in new aspects and optimize and guarantee the use of the event. In the end, the logistics, the infrastructure and the possibility to design and decorate were also more and more limited. We can only continue the big colourful get-togethers and meetings if we also find a suitable venue for them. Only then can we all be successful. And we have finally found this place.

From 2022, the Classic Days will take place in nearby Düsseldorf on the right bank of the River Rhine. From 5 - 7 August 2022, the motto will be: "Gentlemen...start your engines!

After 14 joint and very successful years at Schloss Dyck, the festival around "Motoring Culture & Lifestyle" will now move to an area that the Classic Days will make available for temporary use and decorate splendidly for a journey back in time - just like Schloss Dyck in its day - and which we will then - as always at Classic Days...we love it British.... - call it the "Green Park" at Messe Düsseldorf!

A cooperation agreement has been signed with Messe Düsseldorf which will secure the Classic Days for many years at the new location close to the city. The Classic Days are organised by the voluntary, non-profit association Classic Days e.V. with almost 100 members.

Charity will continue to be the focus of the Classic Days when the big meeting place for automobiles finds its new home near the trade fair: We have chosen three charity projects which we will now be supporting with immediate effect...Information on these will be provided shortly.

The spacious area in Düsseldorf, perfectly accessible for spectators and fans, will now become our new home.

We are sure: The next Classic Days will continue the incomparable atmosphere, the special time-travelling moments, the encounters in the big automobile picnic garden party - spiced with unusual exhibits from the history of mobility. All the previously familiar exhibition and participation areas of the festival will find a new atmospheric place in the new "Green Park" event area. The Classic Days not only take the reference to the urban London park, close to the city, green, full of lively life, as a pure reference to the name, but "Green Park" also stands for a sustainably planned and executed classic car event format, which will also be certified as a "Green Event". A step that is normal in times like today and can simply ensure a good acceptance also among new guests. We're moving with the times here...but don't worry: we're not getting political.

The whole world of classic cars - as the Classic Days with 12 festival areas are called - is now moving to nearby Düsseldorf for the first weekend in August for 5-7 August 2022 and the following years.

The large club area known to the clubs and IGs from the Classic Days is moving with it. We have large areas in the new Green Park area where the meetings and clubs can really be planned very well. Detlef Buxmann and his Classic Days team are optimistic and are looking forward to even more proximity to the event and short distances for the clubs. The details are being planned - by the beginning of February 2022 at the latest, there will also be breakdowns.

Our team from the support of the clubs will be in touch!

The tried and tested team of the Classic Days in the big festival with a lot of cordiality, personal support and the moments of beautiful encounters and unusual highlights ...all this will remain. It's the personal touch that counts, just like before. We will all remain the same.

We will remain loyal to the Classic Days and all our valued participants and friends in the familiar "line-up"!

It would be a great pleasure for us to welcome you and your club members to Düsseldorf next August.

We can promise now: It will be worth it!

Of course, we hope that you / all of you will join us in celebrating the 15th Classic Days from 5 - 7 August 2022.

All ticket holders were already emailed yesterday with further details. We know: Many clubs always buy tickets in advance at a discount to reserve the spaces.

The Classic Days for 2022 will again have many highlights and unusual content "on board": the circuit for demonstration drives of museum and collector vehicles, show runs, presentations, old motorsport heroes, picnic zones and dealer areas, the Nostalgic Journeys, classic cars with matching caravans or camping caravans, which will then show how people travelled in the old days in a historic campsite a few weeks before the Caravan Salon. Historic motorbikes built up to 1940 will be on show, as will unusual museum cars from the Netherlands, England, France and many European countries. In the "Charm & Style" section, vehicles are on display in front of which the owners sit in style with gramophone and umbrella.

"Courage to wear a hat" is part and parcel of the Concours Chapeau, when a little ascot and strolling around the Classic Days is the order of the day. Another central point finds a new and still expandable area: the large club meeting of almost 100 classic car make or type clubs and IGs. A large extended paddock is reminiscent of the paddocks of the old race tracks, where classic cars are looked after and presented under tents by teams in cotton overalls.

We are very much looking forward to seeing you - the brands and the great colourful hustle and bustle. And we promise there will be no long delays getting to and from the event and the beloved classic cars will get through the weekend much more dust-free .

All in all, the "Green Park" in the area of the Messe Düsseldorf grounds offers many new possibilities for using and expanding the Classic Days as an excursion destination and festival venue. The logistics for arrival and departure are perfect for the Classic Days with multi-lane access roads, flexible signage, two dedicated exits from the A44 motorway and many parking areas within walking distance.

For the first time, no shuttle bus rides or long walks will be necessary to get to the festival; classic cars as well as visitors' and guests' vehicles will be parked directly at or - even nicer for classic car owners - directly in the Classic Days grounds.

Even if we look back with gratitude and a certain wistfulness to the early years at the moated castle of Dyck, where the Classic Days originated, there is currently an enormous sense of anticipation about the new location and about being the host there again with a lot of heart and soul for many fans and visitors, friends and dear participants and cooperation partners.

The entire Classic Days team carries a great deal of happiness and passion in its heart...pardon...in their car boot!

We cordially invite you and your club friends to join us in 2022. We are looking forward to seeing you. Two years have simply been too long ...

If you have any questions or comments, please do not hesitate to contact us.

You can also find lots of new information and updates on the Classic Days website at: www.classic-days.de.

Oh gosh Andreas, thank you for posting. So sad, Schloss Dyke was the most beautiful place.
I wish them all the very best for the new venue.

Will there still be demonstration laps, I feel the event will not be the same if they don't have this opportunity.

HI Andreas,

Thank you so much for organizing all this for us Seveners.

For anyone in the UK, I can highly recommend this event which is always superbly organized by Team Classic Days and Andreas and Sybil who look after us so well.

There are some lovely routes to and from the area, 2 days minimum by back roads (some do it in one day on the Motorways if time is tight) so many wonderful places to visit on the way and on the way back.

Hope to see you there
