Thanks for accepting me here.
On Thursday I take possession of my first Caterham, Boston Green with an orange nose and stripe, 140hp with 5 gears and a lack of knowledge. Super excited!
The car has an LSD and this coming Monday I will learn with a trainer at Bedford. Then Saturday 25th off to Holland in it (I live in Oxfordshire on the Warwick border) to surprise my daughter for her birthday, north of Amsterdam. It will be a mighty trip!
The car has a charger for my (Waze) iPhone and I will try both Earpods Pro (noise cancelling) and a set of earplugs with throat mike fitted to a bluetooth Autocom box recommended by IntaRide, obviously well hidden under my orange wooly hat during the France part.
I will have a hi viz vest, tire-repair foam and inflator, spare oil and a spare clutch cable with me but probably not yet my half hood (on order). The car has front LED's (the back ones are on order). As I m traveling alone and just for a few days luggage will not be a problem I suspect. Luckily the car has a heater.
I'll try to convince the people at the tunnel to let me on the lower floor although I understand the higher floor is doable with boarding/unboarding?
Any other things I need to think of?
See you on the road somewhere someday I hope!
Bert
Have you bought suitable shoes to drive the 7 in ? I use go kart race boots available from Demon Tweeks

Nice journey for your first trip Bert,
Tunnel should be no problem, just mind the joins between the carriages as you drive along the train the door latches on the floor are a little proud and you cn bounce on the joining floor plates if you get carried away with the noise your making....
If you have no roof try yo get windproof hat - otherwise you get ice cream head..!
Enjoy
Hahaha!
I have a hood which I think I will have to use as the weather is not looking promising. Also got myself a wooly hat. Thank you!

I see that you have a clutch cable and suggest you add a throttle cable too. Tape up any metal throttle cable connection part to the cable so you don't loose it.
You will find driving with the roof up noisy and hot and claustrophobic. By all means use the roof in a heavy downpour, but even in light drizzle, most of the rain goes over the top. Yes, you may get a bit damp, but that's part of having a 7.
Assume you have some gloves as your hands will get a bit cold on a long journey.
I have done the tunnel a few times and they always let me go on the lower part.
Have fun and enjoy the journey.
