Hi Jonathan No, it was at The Rex last night. (I am so fortunate to have this within ten minutes walk). At The Rex, this is typical Monday night fare, quirky, "art house", unusual films.

Lauren Bacall died yesterday. Favourite film? I'd go for "The Big Sleep". Jonathan

Have just been to see Guardians Of The Galaxy. As someone who's film going came of age in the 80's I loved it! A real mix of Star Wars, Indiana Jones and a later Joss Whedon film, Serenity. The soundtrack was also very 70's and 80's and plays a large part in the film. You don't have to be a fan of the Marvel universe to enjoy it as it's a stand alone film. Possibly Vin Diesel's best role to date (at least he's supposed to be wooden) Trailer Here

Everyone seems to be saying how much they enjoyed Guardians. I absolutely hated it.

Two good ones this week : The Hundred Foot Journey - it will appeal to all about an Indian Family that move in and set up a restaurant in Provence opposite a One Star French restaurant. All the usual mush resulting in a great feel good moment as you leave the Cinema. The second for the more discerning is 'In Order of Disappearance' a modern day 'Fistful of Dollars' set in Norway between two drug dealing families the Serbs and the Norwegians and in the middle the family man that brought it all about. A spectacular body count, lots of snow and sub-titles. Unusual but great fun. Probably just at your local art house tho.

Watched two films last night. Afternoon Delight and The Double. Both good fun in very different ways! Chris, it was always going to be that bad, you must have realised?

Excellent edition of "The Film Programme".

Anyone seen "The Imitation Game" yet?
