Quoting QuietJim:  I very much want to see Nebraska - it looks great - but haven't got around to it yet. I did, however, watch 98 other films last year, and this is how I thought they ranked: Jim's rundown of 2013 movies Disclaimer: Everybody will disagree with me - nature of the beast I'm afraid Can't disagree with most of it to be honest... Anyway, my film of the year (although not 2013) is The Artist. I saw it the other day for the first time at The Royal Albert Hall, with the London Philharmonic playing the score. Absolutely fantastic experience \" class=\"smiley\" />

Just watched Ryan Gosling in Drive on TV! Absolutely cracking film, beats much of the carp I've seen on iTunes and Netflix recently! Chris\" class=\"smiley\" /> Edited by - Krismuss on 4 Jan 2014 00:05:21

The place beyond the pines really is very very good indeed. A total surprise to me since everything else Gosling has been in aside from Drive is rubbish. Pines for me was the best film of 2013.

Just saw this top ten by High Contrast*: here. Very interesting in that I've seen exactly one of them and not heard of eight! I have some catching up to do, some of them look very interesting. *Before you look up his music, be warned it's EDM. That's Electronic Dance Music. I will not be held responsible for you not liking it

I thought Drive was an excellent, powerful film. Had not seen it for a while. I must check out 'a place beyond the pines'

98 films is good going, I managed about 40 in the cinema last year + quite a few more at home. I really enjoyed Silver Linings Playbook, Ruby Sparks is worth a watch if you haven't seen that. Keeping a list sounds like a interesting idea, I may try that this year. Better start by adding Gravity to it, really not that impressed.

Agree about Drive being a good movie. There is a great analysis of the film on YouTube which explains the Gosling character in much more detail and the significance of the scorpion logo on his jacket. Also, glad to find out he managed to get away at the end although it is not obvious. I love movies and watching a good one is like peeling an onion with lots of layers. Stay cool...
