As we have the Odeon subscrption we have to go and see something. Last week was the turn of Magic Mike's Last Dance - enough said! Mrs R enjoyed it, the choreography was very impressive, but what a terrible film, but mildy enjoyable!!
Just watched Nomadland featuring the real Bob Wells, Linda May and Swankie. Great performances from McDormand and Strathairn but even more surprising are those first three. A lovely Saturday surprise
Nomadland is good and goves a very sympathetic view of the ever-shifting community. I thought Frances McDormand's performance in Three Billboards was stronger overall but this did have a subtlety about it.

Democratic dissent is not disloyalty, it is a positive civic duty
So...Michelle Yeoh won the Oscar for the enjoyable, if bats**t bonkers Everything Everywhere All At Once. And her link to the Prancing Horse is ? She is married to Jean Todt .
Any of you guys and girls fans of "The Last Kingdom " on Netflix???
If so, may I give a shameless ( proud parent ) plug for my actor son Harry ( 21 ) who plays Aethelstan in series 5 and the soon to be released "Seven Kings must Die" Netflix original film on April the 14th. You can google "Seven kings must die " trailer and view it on Youtube.
For those who know their history Aethelstan was the first monarch to rule over all of England ..hence the name of the film.
The show and film are based on Bernard Cornwell's 13 books called The Saxon Stories and the film covers the last three books.
All filmed in Budapest during the lockdown and last year. I hope it'll be good but as ever you don't know until you see the final cut.
Previously my lad has played the young JRR Tolkien in the Fox Searchlight movie "Tolkien " which some of you may have seen . Nic Hoult plays the adult Tolkien.
Quite a cool thing to do but as ever with acting as a career choice there are lots of in between days. He is a massive film obsessive and hopefully can be in many more to come.

That's great. I'll go and find it.

PS: My granddaughter is in Series 3 of Sanditon. And I've been cast in Arcadia this summer... this will not be on a screen near you!
My only thespian connection is that I am co god parent with an Oscar nominated actress . Truly , Madly, and Deeply I am . Oh , and I am co director of a fishing club with Dame Judi's nephew . Touching the hem of fame innit.
I enjoyed the last kingdom. Will look out for the seven kings must die. I have no thespian connections although my wife was Cinders in the village panto last year if that counts BUT I do have an Oscar Winner in the family. sadly not me

ETA, Antman on Weds
This afternoon's entertainment. A curious slot, I thought it was a "Monday night film".
I loved it, so far away from the Top Max hero franchises. It could, literally, hardly be further.

Congratulations to him on playing a lead.
The heptarchy is dubious historically speaking. And the consolidation of the multiple & varying petty realms took a couple of centuries
