SIMPLE GUIDE TO CLASS STRUCTURE

Classes 1 to 5 are within the Road-Going Specialist Production Car Category. Classes 6 & 7 are within the Modified Specialist Production Car Category

While this guide gives a simplistic view of the classes please refer to the full regulations for the details.

CLASS 1

This class is designed for any standard Lotus or Caterham 7 and falls within the Motorsport UK rules for Road Car - Specialist Production

  • Engine size up to 1600cc, 
  • Gearbox : 4 or 5 Speed
  • Engine Type : Any normally aspirated car engine or the 3 cylinder turbocharged Suzuki 660cc engine as fired to the Caterham 160, 165 and 170 models.
  • Tyres : Motorsport UK List 1A 
  • Power : Up to 130 BHP
  • Driver Aids : None
  • FHR : Optional
  • Windscreen : Standard or Aero
  • ROPS : MSA Rollbar + Petty Strut or Full Cage
  • Documents : V5, MOT, Road Tax, Road Insurance

Typical Standard Models : Seven 160, Classic, Academy, Roadsport 125, Tracksport 125

CLASS 2

The class is designed for standard Lotus or Caterham 7 and falls within the Motorsport UK rules for Road Car - Specialist Production.

  • Engine Size up to 1800cc
  • Gearbox 4,5 or 6 Speed
  • Engine Type : Any Car Engine
  • Tyres Motorsport UK List 1A
  • Power : Up to 155BHP
  • Driver Aids : None
  • FHR : Optional
  • Windscreen : Standard or Aero
  • ROPS : MSA Rollbar + Petty Strut or Full Cage
  • Documents : V5, MOT, Road Tax, Road Insurance

Typical Standard Models : Roadsport 140, Seven 270, Supersport 140, 310R

CLASS 3

The class is designed for any standard Lotus or Caterham 7 and falls within the Motorsport UK rules for Road Car Specialist Production.

  • Engine Size up to 1800cc
  • Gearbox 4,5 or 6 Speed
  • Engine Type : Any Car Engine
  • Tyres Motorsport UK List 1B
  • Power  :Up to 155 BHP
  • Driver Aids : None
  • FHR : Optional
  • Windscreen : Standard or Aero
  • ROPS : MSA Rollbar + Petty Strut or Full Cage
  • Documents : V5, MOT, Road Tax, Road Insurance

Typical Standard Models : Roadsport 140, Seven 270, Supersport 140, 310R

CLASS 4

The class is designed for any Lotus or Caterham 7 and falls within the Motorsport UK rules for Road Car Specialist Production.

  • Engine Size : Unrestricted
  • Gearbox 4,5 or 6 Speed non sequential
  • Engine Type : Any car derived engine
  • Tyres Motorsport UK List 1A, 1B
  • Power: Up to 220 BHP
  • Driver Aids : None
  • FHR : Optional
  • Windscreen : Standard or Aero
  • ROPS : MSA Rollbar + Petty Strut or Full Cage
  • Documents : V5, MOT, Road Tax, Road Insurance

Typical Standard Models : , Seven 360, Seven 420, R300, R400

Class 5

The class is designed for any Lotus or Caterham 7 and falls within the Motorsport UK rules for Road Car Specialist Production

  • Engine Size : Unrestricted
  • Engine Type : Unrestricted
  • Gearbox : Unrestricted
  • Tyres Motorsport UK List 1A,1B
  • Power: Unrestricted
  • Driver Aids : All Permitted
  • FHR : Optional
  • Windscreen : Standard or Aero
  • ROPS : MSA Rollbar + Petty Strut or Full Cage
  • Documents : V5, MOT

Typical Standard Models : R500, 620R

CLASS 6

The class is designed for any Lotus or Caterham 7, and falls within the Motorsport UK rules for Modified Specialist Production Cars

  • Tyres : Motorsport UK List 1C 
  • Power  : Unrestricted
  • Driver Aids : All Permitted
  • FHR : Mandatory

  • Documents : V5, MOT

Class 7

The class is designed for any Lotus or Caterham 7, and falls within the Motorsport UK rules for Modified Specialist Production Cars
